Township

The Township Government is conducted by a Township Board of Trustees, consisting of seven elected members, namely, the Supervisor, the Clerk, the Treasurer and four Trustees.

This Township Board sets the policy for the operation of the Township and the expenditures of other statutory duties.

The Township of Southfield performs the services not granted to Villages under State Laws.

When mutual agreement exists between the three Villages and the Township, it takes care of services that the Township form of government is best suited to perform.  Specifically, the Township does all the assessing of real and personal property for the three Villages, collects taxes for the Village of Beverly Hills, the County and its Authorities, Township,  local school districts (Birmingham and Southfield), Intermediate School District, State Education and Community College.  The Township also registers voters, conducts Village, State and National elections and directs the activities of the Animal Control Program.
